On October 18, 2018, our students in grades 8 joined a group of over 1,800 students from the Saratoga/Washington county at the Adirondack Sports Complex Dome for the second annual Career Jam.  Career Jam 2018 This event was organized by Saratoga Economic Development Corp., Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES and the Workforce Investment Board.

Students explored industries such as agriculture, food and natural resources, architecture and construction, arts, A/V technology and communications, business management and administration, education and training, finance, government and public administration, health sciences, hospitality and tourism, human services, information technology, law enforcement and public safety, and more.

The goal of the event is to keep schools in communication with area companies and to build relationships that lead to jobs for students as they head into the workforce.

By talking to current employees at Career Jam, our students also learned about the education and training requirements needed for certain jobs.

Having younger students attend these event helps them make informed choices about what they’d like to do in life. It is our hope that by exposing young students to new and exciting careers, they can begin to find what they are passionate about at a younger age.
