Dear Parent / Guardian:

As you may know, our school nurse will be out for an extended period of time. We have been actively searching for a long-term substitute to fill the void. While we did have someone in place to temporarily meet our immediate need, she is no longer available. We have not been successful in filling the vacancy at this point. We will continue our efforts until we have someone in place. We will have a substitute nurse in place on occasion; however, regular coverage will fall to the administrative offices and support staff.

We will continue to assist students with taking their medications and addressing basic medical concerns. However, we will be more limited in some of the other nursing services; for example, having a place for a student to lie down if they aren’t feeling well. Medical emergencies will be handled in the same way that we handle them when we have a nurse in the office by calling 911 for emergency medical assistance. We’ll also continue to monitor the amount of medication here at school and notify you when we start running low.

We all share concerns on ensuring the health and safety of our students and hope to have someone in place as soon as possible. Thank you for both your patience and understanding. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
