Of over 600 schools in upstate New York, Salem Central School has been ranked #46 of the top 50 school districts for highest SAT scores in 2017. This was the first year that the newly formatted exam was conducted. Salem Central School District is the only district in Washington County listed among the top 50 schools.
In 2017, more than 135,141 New York State students took the exam, resulting in an average total score was 1052. Salem’s average score was 1156. The average Evidence-based Reading and Writing (ERW) score for the state was 528 and the average Math score for the state was 523. Salem Central students outperformed the averages in both categories, with an average Evidence-based Reading and Writing (ERW) score of 582 and an average Math score of 574.
On a national level, of the 1.7 million students who took test, the average total score was 1060, the average ERW score was 533, and average math score was 527.
